WHAT IS Textured concrete?

Textured concrete is a simple way to add personality and functionality to your outdoor space by incorporating patterns and designs that replicate outdoor paving.

At A Better Driveway, we lay down a single slab of concrete, manually apply the design before the concrete dries, and colour and seal it. The designs can vary in complexity and resemble tile, slate, stone, and more.

From subtle, refined textures to bold, eye-catching patterns, this versatile and long-lasting option is both stylish and functional, making it an excellent choice for any home.

FAQs

What is the difference between patterned concrete and standard finish?

Patterned concrete is created by using either a stencil or a stamp to create the look of stones, tiles, or pavers whilst the standard finish is the age-old non-slip surface in either a broom or stipple finish and can be done with or without colour.

Does textured concrete get hotter than smooth concrete?

Like all concrete surfaces, textured concrete can absorb heat, but certain finishes and lighter colours help reduce heat retention, making it more comfortable underfoot.

Can textured concrete be used for steep driveways?

Yes! Textured concrete is an excellent choice for steep or sloped driveways because it provides better grip and traction than smooth surfaces, making it safer for vehicles and pedestrians.

How long does it take to install a textured concrete driveway?

Since textured concrete doesn’t take long to lay down, you can typically start using your driveway much sooner than other types of concrete driveways. As a general guide, installation can take anywhere from 3–5 days, depending on the design and weather conditions.

Does textured concrete require special cleaning?

Not at all; regular sweeping and occasional washing with mild detergent is enough to keep it looking fresh. Avoid harsh chemicals or pressure washing at high settings to prevent surface damage.

Can you help me create a unique driveway design?

Absolutely! Our experts at A Better Driveway will work with you to create a custom textured driveway that complements your home’s style and meets your needs.
